Tommy Ewasko: The Black Lighter, Rediscovered

Early on in my career, I began experimenting with black light, and the results of one series in particular were especially phenomenal. As one measure of the success of my "Black Light Lisa" series, check out the cover of the first edition of Chuck Palahniuk's "Invisible Monsters" shown below, which was published in the U.S. in 1999 by W. W. Norton and Company. This world-famous book cover features my photograph, with jacket design by Archie Ferguson.

I thought I'd also share a few more images from the series, but do please note that they are probably "Not Safe For Work." Every print from these images that has appeared in a gallery show has sold, and is now in the private collection of some serious art aficionado.

By virtue of this work, my reputation as "The Black Lighter" expanded worldwide. Giving credit where it's due, I must also add that the individuals who helped and assisted in the execution of this series are some of the cream of the crop in the photographic industry. I am extremely grateful for all the late nights and early mornings in the studio, and especially tip my hat to our extraordinary model Lisa, and to our lab technician Al Cantu of Armadillo Photo. Also a very dear friend, Al is so knowledgeable and professional that he is widely known in the lab world as "the only man in town."
